If you see this:
This happens because of issues with Chromium and antivirus programs but we're working with the antivirus companies to fix this. We also tend to see this error if you have a proxy server or are behind a firewall or at a work network that has connectivity restrictions or has Facebook disabled.
Suggested Solution:
If you have Symantec or Norton antivirus software installed, please try these steps: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/security/ADC/Configuring_Application_Control_1.1.pdf
Alternative solution #1:
Try disabling the antivirus program while installing RockMelt, and then turning the antivirus program back on after you get RockMelt running.
Alternative solution #2:
You can try disabling the Chromium Sandbox in RockMelt. Disabling the sandbox generally lets you use RockMelt if the above tips don't work, but it also comes with risks.
Please read this page by Google's Chromium first before proceeding with this: https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/developers/design-documents/sandbox/Sandbox-FAQ.
If you'd still like to try RockMelt after understanding the risks of disabling the sandbox, please try this:
-
Right-click on the rockmelt icon shortcut on your desktop and select "properties"
-
In the "Target:" line, at the very end of the "C:\Users\{your name}\....\rockmelt.exe" type in these words exactly without the quotes (including the space in front): “ --no-sandbox”
-
Click "ok" at the bottom
- Try restarting RockMelt
